The camera accessory specialist Tilta teased an interesting new product over the weekend: a lens adapter that gives manual lenses an autofocus function. It directly accesses the data from the camera&s phase detection autofocus technology to adjust the focus using Tilta&s wireless lens control system ![]() Tilta Nucleus Auto Focus Adapter
The system would thus make it possible to use any classic manual lens with its very special characteristics like a modern autofocus lens by using the camera&s high-quality hybrid autofocus technology with its intelligent features such as subject recognition and tracking to find the ideal focus point for each subject. The following video shows a Sony E-Mount camera with a Tilta Nucleus-M II Follow Focus Motor and gear ring attached, which apparently receives the autofocus data from the camera via cable through the Remote/REC socket of the camera. How exactly they do that is the big mystery, because actually no AF data is available at this connection. Tilta will soon publish more information about the new autofocus system. ![]() Wireless lens control system Tilta Nucleus M II ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Revolutionärer AF für Cine-Objektive: Tilta Autofokus-Adapter zapft interne Kamera-AF-Daten an |
