Japanese engineers from the Japan Broadcasting Corporation have unveiled a prototype of an ultra high-resolution video system, which has a 16 times greater resolution than the currently most advanced HDTV broadcast technology. The Ultra High Definition Video (UHDV) baptized system has a resolution of 4000 lines, and provides images that are to be no longer distinguishable from human perception of reality. The memory requirements, however, is enormous: 18 minutes of video requires 3.5 terabytes - with a 33 million pixel CCD.
