Up to 24 GB VRAM: NVIDIA RTX 50 SUPER: Expected Release Not Until Spring 2026 – Is It Worth the Wait?

[15:16 Thu,2.October 2025   by Rudi Schmidts]

Current rumors are converging on a release timeframe for NVIDIA&s announced GeForce RTX 50 SUPER graphics cards: A period between March and May 2026 is now emerging as very likely. This information comes from consolidated industry data, which the rumor site Videocardz claims to have seen. This timeframe is noteworthy because recent speculations (e.g., as reported by Slashcam) had suggested a significantly earlier release.

NVIDIA RTX 50 SUPER: Anticipated Release Not Until Spring 2026

The reason given for the late date is that the SUPER update focuses on the RTX 5080 SUPER and RTX 5070 Ti SUPER models. The RTX 5070 series itself appeared relatively late in the product cycle, meaning it would otherwise have had a very short market presence. Furthermore, according to Videocardz, graphics card manufacturers have not yet received official project notifications, which also makes a launch before this period unlikely.

The expected technical improvements of the SUPER models primarily include an increase in video memory through the use of new GDDR7 modules, which now allow 3 GB instead of 2 GB per chip. Thus, the RTX 5080 SUPER and 5070 Ti SUPER are likely to be equipped with 24 GB, while the RTX 5070 SUPER could increase to 18 GB. Typically, with memory upgrades in the SUPER cycle, the number of CUDA cores is barely increased, but the operating frequency is often slightly raised, which usually also results in a higher power requirement (TGP).

Given the probable release date still half a year away, the question arises whether waiting is worthwhile for users with current performance needs. For GPU effects themselves, the now common 16 GB of VRAM is usually entirely sufficient. For local AI models, however, the memory can hardly be large enough. However, such models have not yet found direct integration into major desktop applications. Providers like Adobe currently offer generative AI "on-demand" from the cloud, for which a powerful, dedicated GPU in the computer is not relevant.
