A new update for the VEGAS Pro 21 video editing solution brings two new AI features and extended format support. In addition, the VEGAS Hub functions are now also available for permanent license users; previously they were reserved exclusively for subscription customers. ![]() VEGAS Pro 21 - Text-based editing Brand new and initially only in beta is the AI function Text-Based Editing, which works together with the VEGAS Speech-to-Text function. The tools analyze each dialog-based video file and create a transcript of the spoken dialog. The video can then be edited directly from the transcript, similar to Adobe Premiere Pro. If a section of text is deleted or moved, VEGAS Pro 21 automatically adjusts the events on the timeline to reflect the changes made in the transcript. The function works in both directions - if you change something on the timeline, the transcript is automatically edited accordingly. This feature is available for beta testing and will be available as a regular feature later.
![]() The AI Smart Mask 2.0 plugin uses AI to identify objects in a video and mask them precisely. Users can create up to eight separate masks and track them so that the masks follow the objects in the video, even if they are moving. This function can be used to replace a video background, for example, even if the material was recorded without a green screen. Furthermore, hardware acceleration for AV1 has been further expanded in this new update for VEGAS Pro 21. AV1 decoding now uses the GPU of corresponding NVIDIA and AMD hardware, which should result in significantly better timeline performance when editing AV1 source material. GPU processing for AVC and HEVC files has also been improved. VEGAS Pro 21 now uses a newly optimized and more efficient pipeline for decoding more AVC and HEVC file variants. Also new is a native HEIC/HEIF decoder that allows HEIC/HEIF files (commonly captured with mobile devices) to be added to the VEGAS Pro 21 timeline and edited along with any other video format. ![]() Not insignificant is the change in product policy around the VEGAS Hub functions mentioned at the beginning. Users with a perpetual license, i.e. non-subscribers, will now also be able to use functions such as Text to Speech and Speech to Text - including the new text-based editing function -, VEGAS Content Downloads, Media Share and more. The VEGAS Pro 21 update is scheduled to be released during NAB, in the next few days, and will be free for existing users. The software is available in three bundles, VEGAS Pro Edit, VEGAS Pro Suite and VEGAS Pro Post, which differ in the scope of the additional tools. As part of a spring sale, the programs will be offered at a discount of approx. 25-30% until 1 May (both subscription and permanent licenses). ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Update für VEGAS Pro 21 - textbasiertes Editing, KI-Maskentracking und mehr |
