The modular action cam Insta360 ONE R gets more functions via a new app. For example, live streaming in 360° to YouTube and Facebook is now supported, or alternatively via an RTMP URL. The perspective can either be chosen by the viewer (360 Live) or defined by the live streamer himself (Reframe Live).
Furthermore, the ONE R can now also be used as a FullHD webcam for video calls or meetings from home. When filmed with the 4K wide-angle module, the Insta360 app detects how many people are in the picture and adjusts the zoom level accordingly. When using the 360° module, users can use the new split-screen mode that displays the front and back simultaneously.
Thanks to a higher bit rate (the exact bit rate is not specified), the image should be sharper than before. The standard color profile has been made more "vivid" -- those who want a more natural look can use a corresponding color profile.
When filming with the 4K wide-angle module or the 1-inch wide-angle module, the images are saved as MP4, so there is no need to convert the files. A new, simpler stabilization option ("Basic") is intended to be a fast option without post-processing, with basic stabilization in the camera. The "Pro" mode unlocks higher frame rates and resolutions, providing gimbal-level stabilization via the app or the Insta360 Studio FlowState.
Speaking of post-production: In addition to the existing Adobe Premiere Pro plug-in, a new Final Cut Pro
X-Plugin for direct editing.
Underwater shots can be color corrected with the new, AI-based AquaVision function when subsequently edited with the Insta360 app, so that the lack of red color spectrum is compensated (whether this also applies to video or only to photos is somewhat unclear). The new PureShot capture mode also makes use of artificial intelligence to improve the dynamic range of photo shots, reduce image noise and preserve detail.
Furthermore, wind noise is to be better reduced. AirPods microphones can now be used for voice control.
