As the 10th member, Viltrox joins the L-Mount Alliance. This means that Viltrox's mount repertoire will be expanded to include the L-lens mount initiated by Leica and used by Sigma and Panasonic, among others. Users of L-Mount cameras will thus have a wider selection of rather inexpensive lenses. So far, Samyang and Sirui are also on board in this regard.

The optical design comprises 13 elements in 8 groups, including 1 UA element (Ultra Precision Aspherical) for a natural bokeh, 1 ED element for the correction of axial chromatic aberrations, and 3 HR elements for a more compact design. The lens is made of an aluminum alloy and weighs 570g. The dimensions are 78.4 mm (diameter) with a length of 91.7 mm.
The autofocus based on a Dual-HyperVCM motor from Viltrox is said to work quietly and precisely. The minimum focusing distance is 0.5 m. Focus breathing should be minimal. The aperture consists of 11 blades and can be de-clicked via a switch - but only on the E-Mount version.
The matte black surface of the metal tube is said to be scratch-resistant, while weather seals are designed to protect against dust, splash water and moisture. The front lens has a water- and dirt-repellent coating.
The lens has a Type-C port for firmware upgrades, a 67 mm filter thread and a lens hood. It also supports the transmission of EXIF information.
The Viltrox AF 56mm F1.2 Pro is expected to cost 569 euros and will be available in approximately 4 weeks.
