Vimeo continues to work on the transformation from a YouTube alternative to a production platform. For example, Vimeo is now integrating the AI technology from Magisto into its offering to enable users to easily create videos for Socal Media (Vimeo bought Magisto last year for million).
Users first select a template and can then either upload their own clips or choose from Vimeo&s collection of stock photos and clips to create video snippets, which can then be annotated with text and graphics and then assembled into a clip using Vimeo&s AI algorithms. The AI should ensure that the key moments of the clips used are identified and that they are correctly cut together with the soundtrack to form a smooth clip.
These can then be automatically uploaded and shared on social networks like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or YouTube. The success, i.e. the views, comments and clicks of the respective video in these networks are recorded and displayed. The main aim of the system is to produce short clips for video marketing via social media in just a few minutes.
For the time being, the new feature called "Vimeo Create" is running as a soft beta, i.e. new features will be added continuously - even an own app is planned to be released in the next months. Creating video via Create is free, but only Vimeo members with a Plus/Pro/Business or Premium account can save videos or share them via social media.
