Autodesk has announced that it has acquired the makers of Wonder Studio (Wonder Dynamics). The latter is a formerly cloud-based 3D animation and VFX solution that combines artificial intelligence (AI) with established tools to easily integrate 3D characters into real-life scenes. Wonder Studio is now compatible with several 3D tools and also helps artists in this environment to animate, light and compose 3D characters in live action scenes more easily. Autodesk&s acquisition of Wonder Dynamics now shows how seriously Autodesk is taking this truly amazing-looking technology. The exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but a few Twitter messages suggest that the entire team will continue to work as usual under Autodesk&s leadership. Wonder Dynamics& stated goal remains to make the visual effects process more accessible and affordable by developing AI and machine learning tools that enable filmmakers to produce VFX and CGI elements faster and at a significantly lower price. ![]() Autodesk has acquired Wonder Dynamics (creators of Wonder Studio) Wonder Studio currently offers a cloud service as well as a plug-in that can be connected to professional 3D tools such as Autodesk Maya and Blender to deliver optimised, high-quality character workflows.
