Wes Anderson ("The Royal Tenenbaums", "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel") is one of the most famous current filmmakers, appreciated for his very special style. The list of his 30 favourite films gives a nice suggestion for an interesting film evening, especially for (prospective) filmmakers - each of the films is instructive in its own way, be it the mood, the dialogues, the light, the script or other aspects.
What is striking is the diversity of the films (some of which are quite unknown) - they come from different epochs, countries and genres. For example, his list includes François Truffaut, masterpiece of the French Nouvelle Vague "The 400 Blows", Billy Wilders& classic 1960 comedy "The Apartment", Kubrick&s "A Clockwork Orange", "Drunken Angel" by Akira Kurosawa, "The Earrings of Madame de..." by Max Ophüls, Luis Buñuel&s "The Exterminating Angel", the Animes "My Neighbor Totoro" by Hayao Miyazaki and "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and Ernst Lubitsch&s wonderful 1932 romantic comedy "Trouble in Paradise".
