The latest generation of Western Digital portable hard disk drives My Passport SSD (2020) series, which has just been introduced, features twice the speed of its predecessor models. Internally, a Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe SSD is used, which reaches up to 1050 MB/s and thus exploits the speed of the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface to the limit. An interesting feature is the possibility of password-protected 256-bit AES hardware encryption of the hard drive data to protect the information from unauthorized eyes - without compromising performance. ![]() Western Digital My Passport SSD
The new models for Mac and PC have storage capacities of up to 2TB - but for the time being only the 500MB and 1TB models will be available on the market. The maximum read speed is up to 1050 MB/s, the write speed up to 1,000 MB/s. Thanks to its shock and vibration resistance, the My Passport SSD should be able to withstand falls from a height of up to 1.98 m. Software for backing up data on the drive or in the cloud is included. ![]() Western Digital My Passport SSD The new My Passport SSDs come with a five-year warranty in the four colors gray, blue, red and gold and are available immediately in the capacities 500 GB for around 150 euros and 1 TB for around 240 euros in the color gray in Germany.
