According to insider information from Apple QuickTime 6.6 is ready for some new features, including B-frames and H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10), a new extensible metadata format, HQ audio (96 kHz and 192 kHz sampling rates, multichannel sound and layout, including 5.1 surround sound and 8 or) more different channels, down 24-bit uncompressed audio, new audio compression components, instant conversion between audio formats, including mix-or remapping of channels, upsampling or downsampling of the sampling rate. When will be released QuickTime 6.6, is not yet clear.
