Lensrentals, one of the world&s largest lens and camera rental companies and the largest in the U.S. - has compiled an overview of its most rented cameras and lenses, as it does every year. By analyzing the rental data and comparing it to previous years ( ;)
For example, the mirrorless system camera  Canon EOS R5 is the most borrowed camera for the second year in a row. The next places occupy the Canon EOS R6 and the Sony Alpha A7S III. These figures fit in well with the trend already emerging in 2021 at sales of the EOS R5 and R6 exceeding expectations - in 2020, on the other hand, Canon was still in the lead, but then still with the 5D Mark IV. ;) The most popular cameras and lenses in 2022 If the previous cameras still correspond to the interests of photographers and filmmakers, the fourth place is a clear film camera, namely the Cinema EOS S35 entry camera Canon EOS C70 - and also the full-frame camera Sony FX3 (quasi the Sony Alpha 7S III for filmmakers) is represented in the top ten. The list of the most popular camera manufacturers looks similar - Canon also leads here, and Sony together by a wide margin ahead of other manufacturers. However, Canon has lost just under 2% share here and Sony has gained. Interestingly, Blackmagic appears here in third place, ahead of Nikon and Panasonic. ;) Canon EOS R5 But what are the surprises in the list? For the first time, a RED camera appears in the top 20, namely the cine camera RED Komodo 6K. Another surprise, according to Lensrentals, is the continued success of the mirrorless standard, with several EF lenses retaining their spots in the top 20 and the Canon 5d Mark IV keeping its spot at No. 8 - despite being over six years old at this point.
