What we see in a film is strongly influenced by what we hear. This makes it all the more important not to leave the soundtrack to chance during post-production -- this little lesson in sound design reminds us of that.
By means of an suspense-filled scene from Steven Spielberg´s film Munich, it is demonstrated how a well-formed sound sphere can set the focus and guide the viewer´s attention through the pictures. In the selected example, the story is even partly told through sound, although practically without dialogue and incidentally without music:
