Taiwanese memory specialist Wise Advanced has unveiled its new SD-N series of V90 standard SDXC UHS-II storage media with 128GB, 256GB and - for the first time in the world - 512GB capacity. According to Wise, the use of newer chips, software and 3D NAND flash memory increases the maximum capacity to four times that of the original model, while supporting a sustained minimum write speed of 90MB/s as per the V90 (Video Speed Class) specification. ;)
While Wise sees great potential for the new  SD Express Standard, which would enable transfer speeds up to approximately 4 GB/s, many times faster than current SD cards, this will not happen until it is supported by cameras. Until then, Wise continues to rely on current SD card standards, especially since Apple has integrated an SD UHS-II slot in the latest MacBook Pro for the first time again. ;) Whether SD Express really has a future is in our view questionable, especially since CF Express has already established itself on the market, has similarly good specifications in terms of transfer speed and storage capacity, and is already used in cameras such as the Canon EOS R5, Panasonic S1, Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7.
