Wooden Camera, a member of the Videndum Group, has introduced its Elite Accessory System for the ARRI ALEXA 35, already known from the Sony Venice. The core of the system is once again made up of three classic components: Top Plate, Side Rails and Baseplate.
3-Piece Top Plate
According to Wooden Camera, the three-piece Top Plate reflects the modular approach behind the entire system and allows for different configurations/compatibility with ARRI and third-party accessories.
The three-piece, expandable top plate system allows each plate to be configured independently to minimise weight and effort, and to add more mounting points - if needed. In addition, the diverse thread and screw options facilitate the individual mounting of rod brackets and accessories on the camera body. The top plate is supplied with various rod mounts as well as a coloured antenna protection set.
Side Rails
The Side Rails mount to the side of the camera body and feature a coated stainless steel rosette, a front-facing ⅜"-16 mounting point, 2 x ⅜"-16 and 2 x ¼"-20 mounting points, a sensor level marker and a swing-out strap hook.
Baseplate
The ARCA base plate of the Elite Accessory System is flat, lens-centred and compatible with any bridge plate that uses the ARRI standard height.
According to Wooden Camera, this is to allow for a particularly low centre of gravity, so that shoulder pads or other accessories can be easily attached with the greatest possible stability.
The lens-centred front and rear rod mounts also allow longer rods to be used or additional accessories to be attached to the back of the rig. A double locking system on the rod mounts is designed to provide extra tight clamping to prevent flex and rotation from the lens motors.
