Zacuto has introduced a new baseplate system called Polaris, which is mainly aimed at DSLR/DSLM filmmakers. The Zacuto Polaris baseplate system consists of three components: The Polaris Rod Support, the Mounting Plate and the corresponding Mounting Plate. The latter are based on the Arca-Swiss quick-release standard and thus offer fast toploader functions. Here is the corresponding Zacuto product video for the new Polaris:
Not to be seen in the video but important: According to Zacuto, the Rod support can be adjusted in height so that different (camera) heights for matt boxes, follow-focus systems etc. can be compensated.
Since the rod support supports continuous rods, batteries, balance weights etc. can be mounted on the back of the camera.
The Zacuto Polaris Baseplate System is also compatible with other Zacuto accessories such as the Shoulder Pad and the Zacuto Camera Cages for GH5/GH5s, Sony A7III, A7RIII and A9, Blackmagic 4K Pocket Camera, Nikon Z7/Z6, Panasonic S1 and Fuji X-T3.
The introductory price for the Zacuto Polaris baseplate system is currently 280 dollars.
