Rumours are currently circulating on the net that Zeiss would be exiting the photo lens market. After consultation with Zeiss, however, this rumour turns out to be largely false. It is a fact that Zeiss will discontinue lens lines designed for SLR cameras - simply due to the fact that SLR cameras are no longer produced. There may also be streamlining of individual photo lens series. However, photo lenses will continue to be produced for DSLMs - Zeiss is probably also in negotiations to cover new mounts. And the cine sector is likely to be continued anyway. ![]() Zeiss Milvus Serie - ursprünglich für Spiegelreflexsysteme entwickelt
In this context, it should also be pointed out that Zeiss is currently doing quite well. The last annual report showed a growth in turnover to 8.8 billion euros in a difficult market environment. We have reported on the discontinuation of DSLMs and the streamlining of DSLM divisions more often on slashCAM in other contexts.
