Japanese audio gear expert Zoom has presented a new, extremely compact audio recorder for professional users: the "Instamic Pro Plus C". The 32-bit float technology, in conjunction with the high maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 135 dB, is designed to enable recording both very quiet and extremely loud sounds without distortion or clipping, eliminating the need for manual adjustment of the recording level. Technically, the recorder utilizes a patented arrangement of four MEMS microphones, which are designed to cover a frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz. A stereo version of the device features six microphones and also supports Mid-Side recording. With 16 GB of internal storage, up to 22 hours of recording time in mono format are possible. The recorder is IP67-rated for water and dust protection. ;) Zoom Instamic Pro Plus C - Ultra-compact 32-bit Float Audio Recorder with Timecode In addition to its main function as a recorder, the Instamic can also be used as a Bluetooth microphone for smartphones and computers. A dedicated app for iOS and Android not only allows for controlling recordings but also remote control and synchronization of up to ten Instamic devices simultaneously. Furthermore, integration into popular video apps such as Filmic Pro and Blackmagic Camera is planned. For synchronization in professional video production workflows, the device features an internal timecode generator and supports wireless timecode systems from Atomos and Tentacle Sync. Another special feature is its direct compatibility with various action cameras from manufacturers such as Insta360, GoPro, and Garmin, where the Instamic can function as a wireless microphone. ;) Zoom Instamic Pro Plus C - Ultra-compact 32-bit Float Audio Recorder with Timecode Battery life is stated as up to 4.5 hours, and charging is done via USB-C. Various mounting options, such as a magnetic clip, adhesive pad, and suction pad, are included. ;) The Zoom Instamic is available in a stereo/mono version and a mono-only version. According to Zoom, the target audience includes videographers, musicians, content creators, and sound designers who are looking for an inconspicuous, easy-to-use solution for high-quality audio recordings. ;) The Instamic Pro Plus C is a direct result of Zoom&s acquisition of the Californian company Instamic in July 2025, which was officially announced in September. Since then, Instamic has been contributing its expertise in ultra-compact wireless microphone solutions to the portfolio of the Japanese audio specialist. The recorder is expected to cost approximately 200 Euros.
