At Adobe MAX, the media management specialist Axle AI announced the launch of "ascribe.ai", an AI-based video transcription service that can be integrated into Premiere Pro CC via the Adobe Exchange Application Marketplace. ascribe.ai extracts a pure audio file from the video to be transcribed and uploads it in the background to the language cloud service of axle ai - the finished transcription text is then displayed as a marker in the Adobe Premiere Pro timeline and is available in parallel as an XMP file. Users can also export the text as an SRT or VTT file. The whole process is faster than real-time; every minute of audio can be transcribed into text and transferred back to Premiere in less than 10 seconds.

The app itself (for macOS and a beta version for Windows) is free and includes one hour of free transcription after registration. Subscriptions start with a price of 4.95 dollars per month and for 2.5 hours of transcription (1.98 dollars per hour) - with larger quantities the hourly prices decrease. Additional hours can be purchased through the axle ai user portal in blocks of 10 hours () and 100 hours (). The languages supported in the first version are English (both American and British dialects), Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Korean. Other languages will be supported in the future.
