iOS video editing app LumaFusion: Version 2.4 brings HDR support and 10-bit processing

Luma Touch has introduced the new version 2.4 of its popular semi-professional video editing app LumaFusion for iPhones and iPads, which has been enhanced with support including 10-bit processing for the Dolby Vision HDR videos of the new iPhones 12.

In addition, LumaFusion 2.4 offers a number of new features such as HEVC transparency and a significantly improved chroma and luma keyer with automatic color detection, mask display and advanced spill suppression controls that are especially useful for cleaning up green screen material.

The new features of LumaFusion 2.4 in detail
- HDR support with 10-bit processing and export: Create projects for the 10-bit color spaces HLG, PQ P3 and Rec-709. It can handle HDR media from a variety of cameras, drones, as well as the new iPhone 12th generation (Requires iOS 14 and iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X or later, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad (7th generation) or later, 10.5-inch iPad Pro or later)
- Export H265 with transparency: Export complex animations that can be overlaid in new projects. (Requires iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X or higher, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad (7th generation) or higher, 10.5-inch iPad Pro or higher)
- New chroma keyer with automatic key color recognition, mask display and controls for erosion and spill suppression
- New Luma Keyer with Luma range including control of unwinding, erosion and edge blur radius
- Automatic project settings: Frame aspect, frame rate and color space now have an option that can be set automatically when the first clip is added to the Timeline.
- Support for limited photo access in iOS 14: Additional media can be selected via the menu button in the library

improvements
- The smoothness of cut edges has been improved, and a crop can now be inverted to create new effects.
- The FCPXML export function now provides a no-media export option that exports only the .fcxpml file when all media in FCPX is to be recombined.

Error fixes
- Some larger repositories could not be restored properly.
- Improved stability and performance.

Pricing and availability
LumaFusion 2.4 is now available as a free update for existing customers. For new customers LumaFusion is available for download in the App Store and costs about 33 Euro. The optional FCPXML export feature introduced with

LumaFusion 2.2 costs about 22 Euro.

In 2018, LumaFusion had cost around 20 Euro, but the price has now been increased to 33 Euro - there are always discount campaigns every year, for which the app is available for 15-23 Euro - for example, on Black Friday 2019 there was a 33% discount. So if you want to buy the app and save some money, you can wait and see and hope that there will be such a promotion again this Black Friday - on 27.11.2020.

LumaFusion offers among other things 6 video/audio tracks for videos, audio, photos, titles or graphics and 6 additional audio tracks on a magnetic timeline for editing videos recorded with the iPhone/iPad. There are also color correction, transition effects, video effects such as chroma key, picture-in-picture, a slow/fast motion video function, a live audio mixer, a project manager, a media library for importing clips from various sources, a titler and export to various formats. The editing experience is optimized for working on the iPad (Pro), which provides enough space for the display.
