Stereo Mic recommendation for the Canon XH A1 Wanted

Question by Alex.A:
März 2009

Hello,

My area is mainly wedding and because I would like, what the concerns Atmo recording better results. The internal mic is especially loud in Music (by tape) in default unrauchbar (distorted signal is recorded, especially for bass). Remedy is the built-20dB attenuation, however, is the sound a bit dull.

Therefore, I would like a stereo mic growth and hope here on your recommendations. Also in the Forum, I have some contributions, but I could not hear recommendations ...

My favorite would be the first of BEYERDYNAMIC MCE 72 PV CAM. Is this recommended decision, or there are better things yet?

Price would be 200 - 500 euros in order, and the tendency to be lower -;).

For all tips in advance, THANK YOU.

Gruss
Alex.A

Answer by kees.duif:

Rode stereo video mic.

Answer by kosmonaut:

Hello,

I think the Beyerdynamic good. Did it myself, synonymous s.einer XH-A1. So: I think that is recommended.

Greetings, cosmonaut

Answer by Alex.A:

From the description for the Rode Video Micro:
- Compact, lightweight stereo directional microphone on the hot shoe mount

speak ever 3 points against this Micro:

1. Micro Direct was called a pure micro stereo, ie Omnidirectional
2. no XLR
3. Hot shoe mount

Answer by Alex.A:

@ cosmonaut

Films du synonymous weddings? I would be interested how you film the event with very loud music, ie audio settings in the area ...

setzst and you have a spider, or the original Holder Micro?

Answer by mov:

Of rode synonymous, there is a more professional than the stereo micro-SVM, the NT4, with 359 at Thomann synonymous in the price range. Have yourself a Beyer MCE72 PV Cam, but still not much used.

Since when has a stereo Microphone exclusively with omnidirectional something to do?

With omnidirectional microphones are stereo recordings (apart microphones with cardioid pattern) for the AB-MS method or the method used. Both methods are only with multiple microphones to realize, therefore, for use on a do not call into question.
Both the Rode NT4 as synonymous, the Beyerdynamic MCE 72 CAM have capsules with cardioid characteristic and both are of the XY-stereo assigned.
Qualitatively, the NT4 is likely the MCE 72 to be clearly superior, synonymous for his arrangement of the capsules übereinader in 90-degree angle (which is the real procedure corresponds XY) in contrast to the 120 degree V-configuration at the 72nd MCE

However, speaks more to the weight of the ECM 72 PV CAM, which weighs about 150 grams, while the NT4 nearly 500 grams of the weight. And nearly 350 grams difference on a maybe someday "slow technology" noticeable if you are not always with Tripod filming. Also expected to NT4 on the XH A1 rather "futuristic" effect.
For wedding pictures, the MCE 72 PV CAM all good enough.

Answer by Alex.A:

Thanks for the confirmation;)

Answer by Alex.A:

A question would be is still open s.die filmmakers with the XHA1 and additional Micro:

What must be respected bem shooting with external Mics?
Specials with manual settings in practice?

Alex.A

Answer by mov:

Manual Tonaussteuerung:
When the shooting events of the audience near the Camera (Micro), it can very quickly become the applause override lead.

Stereo Image:
The recording angle of the MCE 72 is relatively wide (120 degrees), ie the next off the micro of the source is, the weaker is the pronounced stereo image, the closer the sound source Micro s.der sits, the more distinctive are the various instruments (see bsp. orchestra) to locate.

Beyer, I would mount onto the flash shoe, because thus the next micro away from the tape drive.

Answer by Alex.A:

Hello,

So the real question would be to put it more precisely to:

Shooting a wedding with the Beyerdynamic 72 in conjunction with the XH A1, connected via XLR, Tonaussteurung car (many say now is manuel BESSEE, I synonymous law, only if I have the manual settings when dedicate Picture, along with the matching image search, there is little reserve to the audio level control).

The starting point is the rather loud music of the tape, I have the XLR / ATT (-20dB) to turn, as has the internal mic duty, or this is not necessary, because of the greater sensitivity of the external bandwidth Mics?

It just wants reluctant in practice to try to say wedding, but already find out if this is possible. The best course would be to try previously, but had no opportunity to plant the tape index.

Thanks and greetings
Alex
