Panasonic's Lumix DMC-LX2 with half 720p15 recording of rudi - 19 Jul 2006 16:29:00
Today, Panasonic has introduced a new fleet of digital cameras. We noticed in the data sheet of the new Lumix DMC-LX2 a nice feature that shows clearly where the road will go digital cameras in the near future. For full-screen video camera. Because this model can not only wide-VGA images (848 x 480 pixels firing) with 30 frames per second, but synonymous, still dominates the recording with 1280 x 720 pixels - but only with 15 frames per second. Saved all the same as MJPEG, Quicktime, which is much friendlier than processing HDV or AVCHD. That is certainly a higher data rate in return is due. If one looks at the price of the model (MSRP) 549 euros, you can already look forward to the next camera-Gerneration, which will certainly help 720p25/30 and are unlikely to be more expensive. Finally, there is a lot more competition in this market. And who knows? Perhaps this is already the first death scratches for the device category "camcorders" s.sich?

It would be easy today, the chip of the Canon 5 D (full 35mm sensor) to incorporate into your camcorder. Thus, one would finally be able to use when shooting the big Objetive order to create depth and blur. I think we should go there the path.

So far as I could read so far, though the problem with a 35 mm chip that 1 not be in a position, 25 vrs. 30 frames per second recorded synonymous (one does not do this image frequency 5d) and the second question would be then: how and what you want to save these data sets then?
The storage solution with the P2 cards with the HVX200 would certainly be a great approach, but as long as the capacity of the cards are getting bigger, it's all pretty pointless and very expensive.

If it were easy, would certainly have been a Manufacturer jumped out and would offer such a solution. The Red Project is trying to even in just this direction, but the extent of success will be crowned, probably remains to be seen.

Antwort von Cocoa.de:

The chip size has nothing to do with the amount of memory. It must not be stored for each of the 10 million pixels, but only 1920x1080

The Canon S80 is 1024x768 @ 15fps and has already published a year ago.

For 25/30fps the appliances but seem to lack the computing power. Which then would indeed be twice as high. It will mean, however, that one must add the speed cameras specifically for video functionality and making it more costly.

well, synonymous PAL camcorders cost several hundreds and thousands of euros, and that is indeed synonymous paid

The improved video function makes the camera synonymous but more expensive for people who want no video. However, computing power is getting cheaper over time and therefore we will see this functionality in a few years certainly everywhere.

S.sich The idea is good, but I would not have to hold a camera 1 m in front of the head with outstretched hands (which, thank presbyopia). The next step should be an intelligent video camera 3 chip have to be used in Low Light. But in 1-2 years, we have the synonymous :-) Until then, the GY-HD200!

Yes how big are the files are still needed in their Canon's Motion JPEG movie in AVI container has about 80 MB / min at 640x480/30/sek?

Yes file is the same size no preference whether with 1 / 1, 8 "CCD (S 80) or with 1 / 2, 5" sensor (recorded Ixus 50) was.

And then Quicktime movie, a very annoying format to video 's postprocess, at least as long as one is not a PC expert. MiniDV is not a film to get close anyway, thanks to the already below-average Waveton's and the low data rates.

PS: Digital SLR cameras have no video function - at least that I know / that of the well-known companies.
