To audio codec: If your film "d runs 60 minutes, save the sound as PCM (WAV =). Audio format that anyone can play DVD player. The film is longer than 60 minutes, then Dolby Digital (AC3 is) a good choice. AC3 also has a high compatibility with standalone DVD players.
With what proggy you should turn the tone right in ac3? So I usually do mpa audio with the ProCoder equal with, because there is only halt otherwise synonymous pcm; But if I let them in then encore encode in ac3, it's the same great ...

The DVD is for me a finished product. I want to change (why always synonymous) something, then I draw upon the original DV-AVI's back and new MPEG2 encode -/AC3-Dateien. A re-encoding already compressed data - see above link - may no longer be possible without error.
The AC-3 conversion now takes my authoring software. You can download the Trial of you as ReelDVD. This works 14 days without limitations, and so you can create synonymous Dolby Digital (prior to importing the WAV file in the default audio to Dolby Digital 2.0 share). But what do you do after that two weeks?

So beimir's it for the StandAlonePlayer, dr arber synonymous Divix makes perfect.
Everything I do I'll take from my camcorder Studio 9 and convertible into MPEG-2, or let directly burn a DVD. The films with my TV card come aufnenommen to MPEG-2 and the cut me with Nero 7 and burn them.
Problems with sound, I've never had.

encode exactly that - namely, ac3 - indeed makes synonymous encore! thereby the only (the encoded) file is not smaller than the original 224kbit mpa-file
