Wanted: Canon's successor to the Canon HV20 ...

Question by Addie:
August 2009

Hi All,

I have had for over 2 years, the Canon HV20 in action and would now like to take the plunge into the AVCHD world.

Trigger is that I really should buy a camcorder for the employer, but I wonder if I did not peddle my HV20 is sure to rise and should be even in full HD ... ;-).

But: this is connected with many pitfalls ... For a new cam should not be so bad at making things than the old one, and then there is still the question of synonymous PC NLE, XP, (etc.; synonymous sounds nice row ...).

So:

a) camcorder
I have been a fan of the Canon HV 20, would therefore remain quite happy there. I'll start with what is important to me:

- (Viewfinder, not only on screen, when the sun goes bad)
- Presets (in the white balance, Tungsten, Shade, Fluorescent ...) should be there. Or there's no alternative, which can be self storage?
- Lowlight at least no worse than the HV20
- (Manual brightness control, the HV20, you must turn down at high sun almost always, I think, just mix in the sun-shade)
- If possible, and 37mm wide-angle connector for existing MF Lens
- Manual audio control the sound volume
- Internal Micro with (little noise; HV20 has received incredibly loud noise with the tape drive)
- Recording to SD (; HC) card enough to need no internal 32GB memory
- Reasonable 25p recording (; 25F in the HV20, I found brilliant) is not sooo
would be nice
- Connection for external Micro (;'ve probably all)

b) PC performance
When I bought the HV20 from over 2 years, AVCHD was still quite in its infancy, and above all, the PC performance was a problem.
For the HDV had brought me then I cut a dual core with 2x 2.67 Mhz and 3 GB Ram, cut with Edius NEO 1.1 and onboard graphics super smoothly, no problem.

What do we need it now so for cutting with AVCHD? And to make 17mbit and 24 Mbit a sharp difference?

Sufficient for a PC today because of the peg with QuadCore 4x 2.67 and 4 GB of Ram, as here https: / / www.csl-computer.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2081&cPath=5_81&XTCsid=q3s81ilq35rpjkolg1fruarcbisn99cd

Or better Core i7?

c) NLE
Edius Neo 1.1 can still deal with AVCHD? Or am I there would have to invest in NEO 2.0?

d) Windows
've Still WinXP SP3. Initially, it was always synonymous: Vista comes with a variety of NLE's not clear, not white as it is today. Or rather just Windows 7?

So, these are a bunch of questions, I know. But if, then I can not just simply buy a new AVCHD camcorder, but the rat tail behind it will be indeed considered synonymous. Was synonymous with the HV20, so I just needed a new PC ...

This therefore raises the question of the total synonymous. If I keep my stuff and everything is to shop for the employer, then wants to know a total price indeed synonymous. I once had then typed on EUR 1,500 - assuming that an HF100 or HF200 have been for less than EUR 600 to ...

If your (another Manufacturer; had once synonymous Panasonic) is better, then I hear myself, of course, synonymous with ...

'm Thankful for every tip!

Answer by Addie:

Yes

I scoured all synonymous again and get more and more on the HF100.

The only one I still believe, however, is the 11th HF

Advantage: 24 Mbps versus 17 Mbps. Internal memory.
Disadvantage: no manual Apperture control. And almost 300 EUR more.
But you can underexpose manual, do not you?

I would like to know views: Bitrate is now synonymous not everything, right?

The HF100 with 17 Mbps to 24 Mbps with a HF200 cuts in the test so synonymous better, here in the test is over

- RF 100: "+ stimulates Best Picture FullHD virtually completely"
- On the HF 11, however, synonymous: "sharpness and colors irritate AVCHD virtually full"

Then do the HF11, the HF100 and nothing for the layman, right?

For Comparison: The HV20 HDV Camera works with 25Mbit with less resolution. In the test but just cut worse on lowlight.

Did you just get it: None of the models (, HF 10, 11, 100, S10, S100, 20, 200) has a viewfinder. I had still synonymous liked, but when has ANY einen ...

Oh: maybe someone can tell what the average ability? So AVCHD editing is running with (what Calculator; minimum requirements) and which program good? HDV editing is now indeed no longer an issue, runs smoothly and round - there is now synonymous with AVCHD so? Always read back on the problems of import and editing in the NLE. Edius Neo, and I would like to keep ...
