Canon has just filed the patent first - whether it is synonymous adopted is still under consideration (which generally lasts a very long time indeed) ...

My Sony Alpha 350 turns off the display when I look through the viewfinder. Sure, the film can not and does not have a touch screen, but is so new, but not the full explanation here.
