Antwort von Peter S.:

The Firewire sockets there are 4 - and 6-pole. At the 6-pin, the additional contacts for power supply of external devices. As a notebook anyway always has too little battery power, you'd have an additional power supply to the PCMCIA card connected to supply external devices with power. The card itself works without power supply. And a camcorder has its own energy supply. On "Camera is not recognized" there are a lot of threads that you find by searching.
