Hi Kerstin,
as possible causes come to mind spontaneously following: The volume is (almost) to zero, the sound is completely muted, the amplified speakers are not turned on or the cable is not connected properly.
What have you tried to play it? In case of doubt concerning (s) video files with GSpot check times with the diagnostic program to find out whether it s.einem lack of audio codec is.
