Finally more resolution -- at the CES, HTC presents the redesigned VR/360° glasses Vive Pro, whose panels with 1440 × 1600 resolution per eye (instead of 1080 × 1200 as with the Vive headset). This is not a quantum leap, but a sharper image impression is highly welcome on the headsets; after all, spherical videos in more than 4K, as offered by the latest 360° cameras, make little sense otherwise. However, the problem of the increased data volume remains, but there is usually a toad to swallow... The field of view is still 110°.
Also new on the Vive Pro are the integrated headphones, dual microphones and dual cameras. The wearing comfort should also have been improved. A Vive Wireless Adaptor has also been announced to work with both headsets (Vive / Vive Pro), based on Intel WiGig technology and will be available in the third quarter. The price and availability of Vive Pro is not yet available.
