SanDisk has introduced new mobile SSDs that, thanks to NVMe technology, enable read and write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/sec and are aimed primarily at professional media professionals. The new portable SanDisk SSDs feature a forged aluminum case that serves as a heat sink, an additional silicon case provides additional protection, which is reflected in the IP55 rating and a 2m drop height.
A USB Type C port is available as an interface and private content can optionally be protected with 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
SanDisk offers a five-year warranty on the new SSDs, which are divided into SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD (max 2000MB/s) and Extreme Portable SSD (without Pro) (max 1050, or 1000MB/s).
The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is now available in 500GB and 1TB sizes (RRP: 500GB for €149.99, 1TB for €239.99) and is expected to be available with 2TB later this year. The SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD is available immediately with 2TB (RRP: 459.99 €). A 1TB version of the product will be available later this year.
