Nikkei.com reports that the market for digital cameras is growing in Japan for the first time in 13 years. According to the report, the sales volume increased by 7% year-on-year to 1.2 million units. Looking at the sales volume by type in 2023, DSLMs increased by 9% and compact cameras by 6%. Interchangeable lenses also increased by 4%. ;)
In Japan, DSLMs should therefore record positive growth for the second year in a row. Growth compared to the previous year can also be seen worldwide (at a low level) if you look at the  CIPA figures for 2023. The Chinese market was a mild growth driver here. We are very curious to see how the market will develop in 2024 - and in particular the moving image segment, which will probably have to be looked at again separately.
