Hi,
on the occasion of anniversary of a larger family, I would like to create a short film or recordings of old Hi8, DV recordings and various photographs cut. My configuration is as follows:
Canon UC-X45 Hi8 camcorder
SonyDCR-PC9 DV Camera (analog in / DV - Out)
Apple Macbook Pro / Leopard
iMovie or Final Cut Express
The Hi8 camera I have S-Video s.die Sonyangeschlossen who Sonyper Firewire s.den Macbook. On the PC9 I, as described in the manual, the setting "A / V> DV Out" to "On" is set. The DV cam is synonymous cleanly from the Macbook and iMovie recognized. The PC9 is on recording mode and put on the Hi8 tape will be played -> the Hi8 Cam shots of the display shows the PC9 properly displayed. So far so good.
Now come the problems:

Furthermore, disturbed me that the activated scene detection does not seem to work (1 single clip). From old computer projects that were still on Windows, I was not accustomed.
Question s.die expert, I do something fundamentally wrong? If yes, what should I do differently? Is it s.Mac, s.der DV Cam, s.irgendwelchen settings? Is there a better principle, or an alternative way my analog recordings Digitizer with several $ 100 for additional hardware to invest?
Any help would be really grateful.

I do not have a Mac and so.
But even if nothing helps, try to miniDV cam first and then of record there to capture.

am I doing something fundamentally wrong? As far as I can judge no. To my knowledge, there are camcorders with only a detour via the tape as an A / D converter suck. If your model is at it were, would not change the synonymous. But maybe someone knows a trick so ...

In my Camera (Canon MVX150i) I have on the "Play" and then you can make me "A / V -> DV out" option.
When I can no tape inserted, otherwise the notes of the tape on and is not converted in real-time stream.

Can your editing program without synonymous Volume Control "live" from the Firewire port record (My Liquid on a PC can do). Then, the calculator, the camera does not try to control, which is on the Adverse Effect leads, and thus could possibly Recording fold.

The problem of abandoned recording the player. Yes, in this direction seems to be the rabbit to run. Maybe the capture software to blame, in my case iMovie. This I now synonymous found the following thread:
