The Avid is IMO not MPEG2. You could either play the DVD and the video directly record (then of course, only in real time) or to rip DVD and convert into a MOV. The latter is vermutl. synonymous not go faster ....

other possibility would be that I always prefer to go via virtual dub mod the whole into an avi to convert, then avid reinzuholen.
important is that it is virtual dob mod, is not the normal version, available in the network for free!
