The operating system is probably the 64bit version of Vista will be. Or because there's known problems or bugs? Is probably a must for the 8 Gig Ram exploit?

So before you omit the RAM, you should prefer ne 64-bit version of Windows here.
For the premiere may not be so important, but if you have After Effects on a RAM Preview machst, the times to a very sad with 2GB.
I speak from personal experience, 2GB hab synonymous and may perhaps one to three seconds (depending on the project) and make the preview is echt sch ...

Could it be that your RAM is already full of other things? Or are you working in HD resolution? I have in any case, with 2GB RAM PAL Resolutionum in the 10 seconds preview, no preference was for a project (of 1 to x levels with dozens of nested compositions.)
