I'm probably too stupid, but I do not get it easy to connect my Sony DCR-TRV16E s.mein laptop (HP with WinXP SP2) with built-in FireWire port on a Firewire cable.

As far as I know, the laptop would connect the camcorder to the car (if the device is switched on in the player mode), see - similar to USB devices. But in my case, simply nothing happens on the laptop - as if nothing had connected.

I would be delighted if someone tell me, could where my fault lies - if it is synonymous möglcherweise totally trivial.

I have the same problem ... I ndeke synonymous s.SP2 which it is, but it was already in the winxp cd here, so I can not uninstall it .. what should I do now? slowly driving me round windoof tool in the real wahnsinn

Try the firewire patch for Windows XP/SP2. If that does not work (he does well mostly not), there remains only the following: New Win XP (without SP2) to use a different calculator (without SP2) for capturing ... or switch to Linux?

If you install a completely new operating system, I would take WinXP (without SP2 on the installation CD!).

So I despair so slow, I uninstalled Windows XP Sp2 and tried to connect my SonyDCR hc-16 with Firewire and USB. In any case, it is recognized by the computer. Have both with Battery as synonymous with power tried. I really do not know what more I should do. Perhaps someone has another idea?

probably it is not s.OS. In any event, I have two Sony different camera (TRV900 recognized and trv20) automatically synonymous, both before and after the installation of SP2 from the Calculator. Brought the necessary XP drivers out of house with.

I had the same question, and after many attempts I found the solution for me, perhaps synonymous for you:

It seems s.4-pole connector to lie - I have s.Laptop an integrated 4-pin connector and in my PC, where Funzt is always great, a card with 6-pin connectors.
In my desperation I have also bought as a last attempt even a PCMCIA firewire card with 2 6-pole. Connections, and lo and behold my DCR PC110E was immediately recognized.
None, please ask me now why this is so! It is so and how it works now, so it was for once not s.Windoof ...

if you previously a 4-pin. Firewire connection s.Calculator had and now has a 6-pin. use it, then you, together with the interface synonymous swapped the cable (before 4 / 4, now 4 / 6).

In some cases, a (too) cheap debt s.Nichtfunktionieren the FireWire cable connection. The 4-pin. Times must fit all right, otherwise there may not have contact. This does offer the use of a high quality cable. ;-)
