The 8 MB cache is only useful when saving and retrieving small files (8 MB). In addition, losing the advantage of internal memory. Modern hard disks running with 7200 rpm and deliver data rates of multiple real-time data processing.
I am currently thinking rather s.einen internal hardware conflict. How did you make the new hard drive as connected / terminated (master, slave?) And as the plate (or the change of frame) is integrated into the system?

I had the same problem: a brand new 160GB hard disk has been at capturing lost frames (-> Scenalyzer live). It was a SATA disk (ie, Serial ATA), which I connected s.mein motherboard (ASUS anything else, P4 HT) have. It turns out that the plate s.Mainboard internal SATA port had a problem when capturing. I type on an internal conflict in the chipset, or possibly in the Drivers. For at capturing the chipset a) via firewire and b) will be charged with SATA and ATA. Performance testing (copying large files) with the SATA disk itself ran smoothly. Drivers also updates does not solve the problem.
I finally set up a separate PCI controller for SATA, with the klappts synonymous with capturing :-)
I clearly do not know whether the cause is the same with you ....
Is your new harddisk happens to have a SATA disk?

In my P4-3, 2GB capturing run properly on SATA.
Perhaps when you run a recalibration of the plate or a virus can invade the background scan capturing?

Hello again. I do not have SATA disks. The plates from the mobile rack are configured as slave. Master is a DVD Burners. It is interesting that four 80GB disks are working correctly in the switch frame, a 160GB and one 200GB disk to work with Premiere not together (so) It helps the burner jumper to slave and to take the plates as a master, should the burner out, and only a change of context (purely as a project always drive the system is on disk C, which makes no problems). Do I have an opportunity to more than three disks in my Calculator Build??

Sure .... sales have a separate IDE controller, which you placing them on a PCI slot. You've got room for another 4 plates ... unless you're really the geographic space. I installed me with a RAID controller IED of Hama and shut down the RAID functionality. SO I am now pursuing three optical drives (DVD burners, CD burners and DVD-ROM drive) and three hard disks (40GB Western Digital, 2x Samsung 120GB). Funzt everything perfectly!
