Infoseite // Seeking the BEST video format for the internet!

Frage von Delpea:

Hi!

before me here with all the face behind the jump ... the title of this thread, I know a little lurid and naive manner. that the format for internet videos, there is not clear to me. Nevertheless, I search for a good cross section of the following characteristics of the codec should have: 1 compatibility (pc, mac etc), 2nd size, 3 quality
I've been a little read through the internet and even partially synonymous tested. wmv to be quite good here .. I have again the problem that I am 90% of all outside before MacUser leave. mpeg4 (avc) or h.264 offers great quality at relatively low file size, but here is synonymous to the compatibility problem: not every player can play this format or the codec is installed. So while I still think holes into the brain, has maybe one or the other of his experience you desire and / or to post tips and I may be a good format to be recommended.

I would be happy about feedback!

The question is not entirely original - use some of our search for details.
An answer in advance: THE ideal codec is currently not - you'll always compatibility between file size and weigh them. Best possible quality is only available with current codecs - but they are never current on all operating systems without installation of Irgendwas run. The only video format that since Windows 95 (and comparable to other old operating systems) without doing Gedo, MPEG-1.

It reminds me s.die beginnings of "Internet Video" - then as it is still "the jerky Stamps" was called * g *

Joking aside - I would recommend you flash video. Macromedia, ahem, Adobe Flash Player has always almost every s.PC / MAC installed because he Sost at 70% of the pages on the net anyway and sees nothing he can no more synonymous codec installation or other expenses your videos.

Please do not confuse the quality of the flash videos you have coded, with those on Youtube & Co! They can only turn the flash into what they get from users, and this is mostly a horror.
Ich geh 'mal assume that your videos are available in good quality - then adjusts the quality synonymous of your Flash Video!

Yes, clearly - at the time was the mass of the surfer with 'nem modem' on its analog line. Today, the data in the mass of Internet access for clever MPEG-1 is more than adequate. In addition, the encoder a little bit better than 15 years ago.
Also you need a Flash plug-Rein ...
But I am here not as an ardent MPEG-1-fan position. The question was: Which codec is best for your network? Under the compatibility Gessichtspunkt should still nix s.MPEG-1 rankommen - odä?

Flash videos are future-proof!

MPEG 1 is for the user, for example in Portugal there is not even here with me, there are only 1000, he and DSL in Portugal, you're quick if you have connections like ISDN.
So there should be synonymous in other neighboring countries appearance.

Accordingly Flash (as *. flv) should probably be legally accepted.

Otherwise halt Xvid synonymous nor interesting. But in terms of streams rather unusual.

WMV MOV is precisely how one must then also offer 2 versions, that is no longer synonymous usual. So FLV and anyone can sehn ;-)
