When I filmed with my HV20 to PC Filmaterial capture I get an MPEG with the Resolution1440x1080 (see attach.). The HV20 supports 1920 x 1080th I have foldendes on Wikipedia gefudnen: HDTV images are in practice often be rectified: the transmission of a 16:9 image is often in a 4:3 ratio stretched so that when the 1080 only 1440 instead of 1920 points and with only 720 lines instead of 960 points to 1280 available. The loss of sharpness is a good mastering balance.
I thought, but HDV is always in the ratio of 16:9?

Since it is an HDV camera that land is always "only" 1440x1080 pixels on the tape. See synonymous here: http://forum.slashcam.de/canon-hv20-echtes-full-hd-oder-nicht-vt55854.html
