Infoseite // What analog video digitizer? A / D converter or camcorder?

Hello,

I want to go to and after about 50 VHS-C and Hi8 tapes Digitizer (via Firewire as a DV on the PC). There are pure Hobbyfilmereien from childhood, holidays, celebrations, sports, etc.

I have here a JVC GR-D290E MiniDV Camcorder with Analog-In. Is it recommended that with this camcorder to Digitizer? Or is it advisable, an A / D converter like the Canopus ADVC-55 to use?

My JVC camcorder allows synonymous the "tapeless" through the digital signal, ie the analog signal coming s.Camcorders, it is digitized and non-recording to miniDV tape in the Play mode via firewire s.den PC forwarded. Does this approach have any disadvantages / risks?

Hi,
I was with my elderly Sonytrv20-in via analog VHS tapes directly, ie without intermediate storage on tape, digitized. The result is very good - it probably would with a dedicated converter of Canopus synonymous not better.

A "new" option would be, perhaps, the images on a media player / DVD recorder via the USB port on an external HDD to record. I have a cube with Emtec to the extent that the works, with one exception - and now I'll Off-topic - if the VHS tape is a gap between two shots, breaking the transmission, because the signal is missing. Once it works, sometimes not. I have not yet rausbekommen how the recorded video is always saved, even if the indicator comes.
The idea behind it: with a video grabber, you can not do if you do not have more tapes.
Has someone already other experiences with other media players?

Only if you thought about the low wear machst, synonymous to the pure electronic operation with a camcorder brings.

In other words: Take the camcorder - and is good.
