Hello! I want to make a movie into Avid Xpress Pro to him umzuschneiden. Did the material as mov, avi and wmv files, or it can pick of a DVD. Is there any possibility? Kerstin

WMV forget, this is a compression format that is no longer suitable for a post. Whether MOV or AVI are better, you have yet to find out.
Since it is called container files for video - and audio data, the file extension says nothing about the actual content. AVI with GSpot you can check with MOV ichs not know. - What says Avid Xpress Pro, if you want to import the files?
Is the disc is a DVD-ROM or a DVD-Video?

MOV from the codec you get out, if you have the video with the QT player open and <Strg> i + hit.
If in doubt, simply import the file, the quality looks better.
I hope the video is in PAL (or NTSC) - Format, otherwise mitm Avid's cumbersome.

On the DVD there are 2 folders, one containing DAT, IFO and BUP file, the other IFO, BUP and VOB file formats ...

then it is not a dvd-rom, but actually a dvd-video ...
schau dir mal the vob files in the vob file with the maximum size is your film, it can test times by anklciken play.
this file you can copy down and then in virtual dub mod (-> goolge -> free download) and get inside as avi umkonvertieren. this new avi should now compatible with his pro xpress :-)
